Mönchengladbach Airport industrial estate

Mönchengladbach Airport (MGL) covers an area of almost 120 hectares. A total of nine hangars offer a floor space of over 20,500 m². A further hangar will add almost 4,000 m² to the available space over the next two years. This will create new capacity for additional aircraft; there are currently more than 170 at the site (as of 2024).

The conversion of the 2,800 m² terminal has promoted another pillar of the airport. In line with the high standards of business aviation, customers now have new, open and modern spaces at their disposal to bundle all handling units for business and private travelers and keep distances as short as possible. Investments have also been made in the quality of stay: As an exclusive cooperation partner, the Porsche Center Willich played a leading role in redesigning the lounge area at Mönchengladbach Airport. With a sustainable furnishing concept that relies heavily on recycled materials, for example, the new lounge integrates seamlessly into MGL’s plans and also offers business customers the exclusive flair of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer. The Porsche Center Willich Lounge can be used by passengers, crews and flight students as well as pilots.

Daily opening hours from from 8 am to 8:30 pm (with PPR extension from 6 am to 10 pm) and an IFR control zone with ILS on both sides and 1440 x 30 m runway (1200 m runway) underpin the advantages for weather-independent flight operations. These factors currently result in an average of almost 50,000 aircraft movements per year.

The importance of MGL as an economic factor is also underlined by the more than 45 companies from the aviation industry, authorities, service providers, service and maintenance companies. The high occupancy rate of the rental space speaks for the attractiveness of MGL as a location.

Further areas with development potential are available and create future potential to expand the site into the MGL Air Quarter (AirQ). This concerns the existing parking lot area (approx. 17,000 m²) and the trotting track area (approx. 140,000 m²). Further information on the potential areas can be found here.
